Easy Stove-top Mac and cheese
Ingredients:
1lb box of Macaroni pasta
1 tsp salt
Water
2 cups Milk
3 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt to taste
1 tsp Paprika
1 cup Monterey Jack and Mild Cheddar cheese
2 tbsp flour
A pinch of turmeric powder for color
1/2 water
Preparation:
1. Cook Pasta according to the package. Drain the pasta and run under cold tap water.
2. Heat butter in a pan, add flour and mix it until it forms thin paste. This is called roux. Cook for 2 mins until it’s fragrant.
3. Add milk little at a time and mix it in the roux and cook until it thickens. Keep adding milk until everything is incorporated and a thick sauce like mixture is formed.
4. Add garlic powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix it well.
5. Add water to adjust the consistency.
6. Add pasta and mix until it’s well coated with sauce.
7. Add cheese and stir it in the macaroni. Simmer until all the cheese is melted.
