Quick and Easy No Yeast Naan
Naan is a Flat bread mainly used in South Asian cuisines. Traditionally it is baked in hot clay Tandoor with charcoal. But today, we do not have tandoor in our kitchen, so Naan is made on stove top on cast iron skillet or in the oven. I will be showing you how to make Naan on the stove top without the yeast. All you need are the basic ingredients which are mostly available in your pantry.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups All purpose flour
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- Luke warm water to need the dough
- Salt to taste
Kneading the dough:
- I have used my Kitchen aid stand mixer to knead the dough. But you can knead it with your hands.
- In a large bowl, add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and mix well.
- Add yogurt, oil and luke warm water to knead into a soft dough. Grease your hands to make the dough soft and pliable.
- Keep the dough to rest for 15-20 mins.
Making Naans
After the dough is ready to use, divide it into 8 portions if you want bigger and thicker naans. You can divide the dough into 10 portions to get smaller and thinner naans.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds or kasoori method on the dough while rolling so that they stick to the surface of the naan.
- Roll out each portion of the dough into a flat circle. Dip your fingers in water and apply it on the naan.
- Take the rolled out naan and place it on the hot cast iron griddle. Back side of the naan should look like this.
- Cook until air bubbles appear on top of the Naan.
- Now flip the naan and let it cook on the second side.
- Keep the naans covered until they are ready to serve.
- Serve Naan bread with Punjabi Dum Aloo, Raita, Rajma, Chana masala, Cauliflower Tikka masala or Shahi tofu.
