Nachos Cheese Sauce | Easy recipe

This is a quick recipe for Nacho Cheese sauce. It can be added as a topping to various recipes like salads, burrito bowls or can be eaten as a dip with tortilla chips. It mainly consists of milk and cheese thickened with roux and flavored with salt and garlic.

Ingredients
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1 1/2 cup + 1/4 cup Milk
3/4 cup Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese
Salt to taste
2 tsp garlic powder
1 or 2 pinches of turmeric powder for color

Instruction:
Heat butter in a pan, add flour and cook until the flour is cooked and slightly changed its color. This is called as Roux.
Add 1/4 cup of milk to the roux and whisk until its well incorporated.
Once the milk thickens, add 1 1/2 cups of milk to the mixture and whisk well. Cook it on medium flame and keep stirring occasionally as the milk can easily burn at the bottom of the pan.
The milk thicken after 15 mins. Add salt, garlic powder and turmeric powder. I added Turmeric powder for nice yellow color.

Notes:
Do not be tempted to add a lot of turmeric powder as it has a very strong flavor to it.  If you Have sharp cheddar cheese, you can skip turmeric powder totally. You can add finely chopped onions and green pepper to the sauce to make it more flavorful.
